The PostalPitch™ StartUp competition invited entrepreneurs from all over the world to present their latest ideas, products and solutions to the greater global postal-parcel-logistics-delivery industry at PostalVision’s eighth annual event taking place at The Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City, April 3-5, 2018.
Out of all the submissions, a jury of industry experts selected 9 finalists who were invited to PostalVision to pitch their solution. An esteemed jury reviewed and rated each of the finalists in several categories, and determined the competition winner, which was announced at the PostalVision reception April 4, 2018.
The 2018 PostalPitch™ competition was chaired by Bernhard Bukovc of the Postal Innovation Platform and the jury included Thierry Golliard, Director Open Innovation & Venturing, Swiss Post; Olaf Klargaard, Director, Innovation, Geopost; Karlijn Krol, StartUp Scout, PostNL Innovation Studio; Gary Reblin, Vice President, Product Innovation, USPS; Farzin Shadpour, Vice President and Managing Director, Supply Chain, PlugandPlay and Elmar Toime, Chairman Postea Group.
The award criteria was based on innovation, value and impact. The winning solution needed to be able to identify new, so far unmet customer needs with a unique value proposition, good cost – benefit ratio, a robust business model and market entry strategy with significant value proposition.
Bernhard Bukovc said “The judges gave a clear vote and selected ZigZag, which provides a solution in an area that is of utmost relevance for postal and logistics providers – returns. We had some strong entries, but we believe ZigZag has the capability to be a game changer, with an impact on the industry, the environment and society.”
ZigZag has already received offers of partnership from postal providers on the judging panel and founder Al Gerrie was delighted to accept the award.
